Own a fragment of an Egyptian meteorite impact with this remarkable Gebel Kamil iron meteorite. This specimen originates from a devastating crater-forming event that occurred less than 5,000 years ago in the remote East Uweinat desert of Egypt, making it one of the youngest well-preserved impact structures on Earth. The impact crater was accidentally discovered in 2009 by Italian researcher Vincenzo De Michele while viewing the East Uweinat region on Google Earth. A joint Italian-Egyptian expedition later mapped the site. The pristine 45-meter Kamil crater left behind thousands of shrapnel-like iron fragments scattered across the desert floor. Because of the extremely arid, isolated environment, the crater and the thousands of meteorite shards remain in pristine condition.

Gebel Kamil is classified as an "ungrouped iron meteorite" and specifically as an ataxite, a rare nickel-rich type of iron meteorite. Gebel Kamil is highly prized by collectors for its unique, wind-ablated regmaglypts and its fascinating modern-day discovery story. Because it is an ataxite, it does not display the classic Widmanstätten crystalline pattern found in many other iron meteorites. Instead, it has a fine-grained, highly metallic matrix often noted for a unique "lizard skin" texture. It contains approximately 20% nickel and about 0.75% cobalt, along with trace minerals like schreibersite and troilite. The total mass recovered weighed around 1,600 kg.

This individual specimen weighs 20.3 grams and measures approximately 3.3cm x 2.2cm x 0.8cm.  It is supplied in a protective membrane floating display case and includes a certificate of authenticity, making it a perfect gift for collectors, science enthusiasts, or anyone who wants to hold a genuine, rare piece of space history discovered in the sands of Egypt.
