Bring a piece of cosmic history into your collection with this genuine Nantan meteorite specimen. This nickel–iron meteorite fell near Nantan in Guangxi, China, in an observed fall dating back to around 1516 and was rediscovered in 1958 during searches for iron ore. Classified as an IAB‑MG coarse octahedrite, the Nantan fall produced an estimated total known weight of about 9,500 kg. A striking fragment of 4.5‑billion‑year‑old metal from the asteroid belt, this Nantan meteorite is a tangible reminder of our solar system’s violent early history.
The Nantan meteorite fragmented during atmospheric entry, scattering debris over a strewn field approximately 28 km long and 8 km wide. There is no single, large impact crater, as the object broke apart before a single mass hit the ground.
The individual meteorite measures approximately 1.9cm x 1.8cm x 1.3cm, and weighs 6 grams. It comes in a small membrane floating display box and includes a certificate of authenticity.
Package includes: meteorite specimen, certificate of authenticity, collectors display case, In-depth information sheet
Please note, the price is per meteorite. As we have multiple specimens in stock, the size and appearance of your meteorite may differ slightly to the images shown on our website. Item will be selected at random.
