Rare Lunar Meteorite 4cm

Own a genuine piece of the Moon with this authentic Lunar Meteorite. Ejected from the lunar surface by an asteroid impact and eventually pulled in by Earth's gravity, this specimen was discovered in Tindouf, Algeria, in 2017.

Lunar Meteorites are identified by comparing their mineralogy, chemistry, and isotopic ratios to lunar samples brought back by Apollo missions. They represent stony achondrites from the Moon’s crust, compositionally similar to Apollo samples. They represent various regions of the Moon, including highlands and maria, ejected from the Lunar surface by impact, later falling to the Earth's surface.

Unlike the Apollo samples, which remain property of the U.S. government, lunar meteorites such as NWA 11273 are among the few legal ways for private collectors to own lunar material. This specimen is a Lunar Feldspathic Breccia, characterized by its complex mixture of rock fragments and minerals fused together during high-velocity impacts on the Moon's surface.
